Scientific Goals
CERES experiment has four main objectives:
- Continuation of the ERBE record of radiative fluxes at the top of the atmosphere (TOA) for climate change analysis.
- Doubling the accuracy of estimates of radiative fluxes at TOA and the Earth's surface.
- Provide the first long-term global estimates of the radiative fluxes within the Earth's atmosphere.
- Provide cloud property estimates that are consistent with the radiative fluxes from surface to TOA.

Famous quotes containing the words scientific and/or goals:
“Good resolutions are useless attempts to interfere with scientific laws. Their origin is pure vanity. Their result is absolutely nil. They give us, now and then, some of those luxurious sterile emotions that have a certain charm for the weak.... They are simply cheques that men draw on a bank where they have no account.”
—Oscar Wilde (18541900)
“Let us beware of saying there are laws in nature. There are only necessities: there is no one to command, no one to obey, no one to transgress. When you realize there are no goals or objectives, then you realize, too, that there is no chance: for only in a world of objectives does the word chance have any meaning.”
—Friedrich Nietzsche (18441900)
