Dimensions 0 and 1: Trivial
For more details on this topic, see Curve. There is a unique connected 0-dimensional manifold, namely the point, and disconnected 0-dimensional manifolds are just discrete sets, classified by cardinality. They have no geometry, and their study is combinatorics.
A connected 1-dimensional manifold without boundary is either the circle (if compact) or the real line (if not). However, maps of 1-dimensional manifolds are a non-trivial area; see below.

Famous quotes containing the words dimensions and/or trivial:
“Words are finite organs of the infinite mind. They cannot cover the dimensions of what is in truth. They break, chop, and impoverish it.”
—Ralph Waldo Emerson (18031882)
“My weakness has always been to prefer the large intention of an unskilful artist to the trivial intention of an accomplished one: in other words, I am more interested in the high ideas of a feeble executant than in the high execution of a feeble thinker.”
—Thomas Hardy (18401928)
