City Reading (Tre Storie Western)

City Reading (Tre Storie Western) is a 2003 album by the French band Air in collaboration with the Italian writer Alessandro Baricco. In this album, Baricco narrates some passages from his novel City with Air's music in the background. The impetus for the album was in 2001, when Air performed background music to a live theater reading of City at the request of Baricco. The following month, they recorded three excerpts from his book (Bird (track 1), La Puttana Di Closingtown (tracks 2-10) and Caccia All'Uomo (tracks 11-19)). The album was mixed by Radiohead producer Nigel Godrich.

Famous quotes containing the words city and/or reading:

Saigon was an addicted city, and we were the drug: the corruption of children, the mutilation of young men, the prostitution of women, the humiliation of the old, the division of the family, the division of the country—it had all been done in our name.... The French city ... had represented the opium stage of the addiction. With the Americans had begun the heroin phase.
    James Fenton (b. 1949)

Nothing more rapidly inclines a person to go into a monastery than reading a book on etiquette. There are so many trivial ways in which it is possible to commit some social sin.
    Quentin Crisp (b. 1908)
