Early Life
Ciro Pessoa was born in São Paulo in 1957. As he turned seven years old, he was already playing some chords on the acoustic guitar. He used to read Lewis Carroll, Monteiro Lobato and Jules Verne, and used to listen to Roberto Carlos, Os Mutantes, The Beatles and Secos & Molhados. When he was eleven, he took part of a junior talent quest on the Ilha Porchat Club in São Vicente, and won the first place by throwing a performance of "Aroeira" by Geraldo Vandré.
He studied at Colégio Equipe, and, in the late 1970s, he started opening shows of artists like Walter Franco, Novos Baianos and Jards Macalé, invited by former President of CCE (Centro Cultural Equipe) Sérgio Groismann to perform at the school festivals. In one of these festivals, he took the stage for the first time with his friends which would later form the Titãs do Iê-Iê.

Famous quotes containing the words early and/or life:
“I could be, I discovered, by turns stern, loving, wise, silly, youthful, aged, racial, universal, indulgent, strict, with a remarkably easy and often cunning detachment ... various ways that an adult, spurred by guilt, by annoyance, by condescension, by loneliness, deals with the prerogatives of power and love.”
—Gerald Early (20th century)
“Personal change, growth, development, identity formationthese tasks that once were thought to belong to childhood and adolescence alone now are recognized as part of adult life as well. Gone is the belief that adulthood is, or ought to be, a time of internal peace and comfort, that growing pains belong only to the young; gone the belief that these are marker eventsa job, a mate, a childthrough which we will pass into a life of relative ease.”
—Lillian Breslow Rubin (20th century)
