The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (Strangite) is a denomination of the Latter Day Saint movement with around three hundred members as of 1998. It is an entirely separate organization from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, which is considerably larger and better-known, although both churches claim to be the original organization established by Joseph Smith, on April 6, 1830. The Strangite church is headquartered in Voree, Wisconsin, just outside Burlington, and accepts the claims of James Strang as successor to Joseph Smith, as opposed to those of Brigham Young, Sidney Rigdon, Joseph Smith III, or any other Mormona leader.

Famous quotes containing the words church, christ, day and/or saints:
“He prayed more deeply for simple selflessness than he had ever prayed beforeand, feeling an uprush of grace in the very intention, shed the night in his heart and called it light. And walking out of the little church he felt confirmed in not only the worth of his whispered prayer but in the realization, as well, that Christ had become man and not some bell-shaped Corinthian column with volutes for veins and a mandala of stone foliage for a heart.”
—Alexander Theroux (b. 1940)
“Dat little man in black dar, he say women cant have as much rights as men, cause Christ want a woman! Whar did your Christ come from? Whar did your Christ come from? From God and a woman! Man had nothin to do wid Him.”
—Sojourner Truth (17971883)
“Muriel Bedford: It isnt every day that your only son gets married.
Judge Bedford: Hes your son, too, Muriel. I mean its about time you started taking half the blame.”
—Dale Launer (b. 1953)
“What do you think spies are: priests, saints and martyrs? Theyre a squalid procession of vain fools, traitors too, yes; pansies, sadists and drunkards, people who play cowboys and Indians to brighten their rotten lives.”
—John le Carré (b. 1931)
