Attacking and Biting A Policeman

In a 2009 demonstration in front of the parliament, Tian Chua bite a Malaysian Policeman on the arm. The bite was similar to a sugar cane bite which is hard and the policeman bled profusely. Tian Chua was charged for causing hurt and obstructing a civil servant from doing his duty. He was charged under Section 332 of the Penal Code and can be jailed up to three years or fine or both if convicted.

Tian Chua was sentenced to 6 month in jail and was fined RM 3000.00. He appealed by saying that he is innocence, while there are undisputed evidence that he had bitten a civil servant and his teeth marks is visible in the arms of Police Constable Mohd Rosyaidi Anuar 22 year old.

The public was shocked when Karpal Singh Democratic Action Party Chairman stated that Tian Chua needs to be disqualified as a parliament member. He cited the case of an ex parliamentary seat holder Fan Yew Teng which was disqualified when he was fined RM 2000.00 by the Malaysian court. According to Karpal Singh, Tian Chua need to vacate his seat and a by-election should be held.

Tian Chua however, still the MP for Batu and he paid his fine of RM 2000.00 hastily after the appeal proceeding was over.
