Competition

Chrysler claimed that the TC was not in competition with the two-seater Cadillac Allanté nor the Buick Reatta. The Allanté was also Italian-designed and partially hand-built. The Allanté was powered by a 200 hp 4.5L V8 engine ('89-'92) with final assembly in the U.S. (after the bodies built in Italy were shipped via special air cargo) at a price of more than $17,000 over the TC. The Reatta was a 170 hp V6-powered roadster with a suggested price about $15,000 lower than the TC.

Famous quotes containing the word competition:

Such joint ownership creates a place where mothers can “father” and fathers can “mother.” It does not encourage mothers and fathers to compete with one another for “first- place parent.” Such competition is not especially good for marriage and furthermore drives kids nuts.
    Kyle D. Pruett (20th century)

Wearing overalls on weekdays, painting somebody else’s house to earn money? You’re working class. Wearing overalls at weekends, painting your own house to save money? You’re middle class.
Lawrence Sutton, British prizewinner in competition in Sunday Correspondent (London)

The elements of success in this business do not differ from the elements of success in any other. Competition is keen and bitter. Advertising is as large an element as in any other business, and since the usual avenues of successful exploitation are closed to the profession, the adage that the best advertisement is a pleased customer is doubly true for this business.
Madeleine [Blair], U.S. prostitute and “madam.” Madeleine, ch. 5 (1919)
