  • 16 March: The CIRA was blamed for the punishment beating of a heroin dealer in Clondalkin, Dublin.
  • 6 July: The Continuity IRA were blamed for hijacking vehicles and firing shots at a police patrol during disturbances in Craigavon, Co Armagh. The trouble started after Republican Sinn Fein president Des Dalton was arrested during a public meeting.
  • 17 September: The Continuity IRA claimed responsibility for a rocket attack on police in Craigavon Co.Armagh, in a briefing given to the Guardian using a recognised code word, a spokesman for the Continuity Army Council of the IRA said their operatives had fired a rocket propelled grenade at a police patrol on Lake Road, between roundabouts one and two of Craigavon, shortly after midnight.
