Chromosomal Conditions
The following conditions are caused by mutations in chromosome 15. Two of the conditions (Angelman syndrome and Prader-Willi syndrome) involve a loss of gene activity in the same part of chromosome 15, the 15q11-q13 region. This discovery provided the first evidence in humans that something beyond genes could determine how the genes are expressed.

Famous quotes containing the word conditions:
“We as a nation need to be reeducated about the necessary and sufficient conditions for making human beings human. We need to be reeducated not as parentsbut as workers, neighbors, and friends; and as members of the organizations, committees, boardsand, especially, the informal networks that control our social institutions and thereby determine the conditions of life for our families and their children.”
—Urie Bronfenbrenner (b. 1917)
