Missions

From Appalachia to Africa: Building and Empowering Globally

Christian Academy seeks to train the next generation of leaders to share the gospel message with others in the community, nation and around the world. Since 1998, Christian Academy has sponsored at least one mission trip abroad to share Christ's love and a message of salvation to others.

In 2001, Christian Academy developed the Christian Academy Missions Program to provide consistent school-sponsored opportunities for the students to serve Christ nationally and internationally. Since the beginning of the program, more than 500 students have participated in school-sponsored mission trips from Appalachia to Africa.

Recently, in June 2012 Christian Academy high school students were able to sponsor and open a house for fifty children in India after much fundraising. The house is in Karpi, India named Angel House. The Bible verse for Angel House is James 1:27, " Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world."

Famous quotes containing the word missions:

There was only one catch and that was Catch-22, which specified that a concern for one’s own safety in the face of dangers that were real and immediate was the process of a rational mind.... Orr would be crazy to fly more missions and sane if he didn’t, but if he was sane he had to fly them. If he flew them he was crazy and didn’t have to; but if he didn’t want to he was sane and had to.
    Joseph Heller (b. 1923)
