Harris County Sheriff's department, in an attempt to reduce overtime expenditures, forced deputies to use accumulated compensatory time before they reached the limit which would require overtime payments. A judge is not supposed to know anything about the facts of life until they have been presented in evidence and explained to him at least three times.
    Parker, Lord Chief Justice (1900–1972)

    Anna Julia Cooper (1859–1964)

Some facts should be suppressed, or, at least, a just sense of proportion should be observed in treating them.
    Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (1859–1930)
