Chris Henderson (Canadian Musician) - 620 CKRM Contest

620 CKRM Contest

Each year Regina radio station 620 CKRM holds a singing competition, the Big Country Talent Show, seeking out and supporting new Saskatchewan talent. In 2006, Chris entered the contest and after two rounds of competition singing "I Swear" by John Michael Montgomery and "Live Like You Were Dying" by Tim McGraw, Chris was declared the winner.

As prize for winning the contest, Chris was awarded the opportunity to record a single with SCMA and CCMA award winning Saskatchewan band, the Poverty Plainsmen. Working with the band, Chris released the single "The Difference You Make" in October of the same year. The single became a tune frequently heard on CKRM and its success encouraged Chris to pursue other recording opportunities.

Other notable winners of the CKRM contest include Brad Johner, Kal Hourd, Katie Hoess, and Sheila Deck.

Famous quotes containing the word contest:

The contest between the Future and the Past is one between Divinity entering, and Divinity departing. You are welcome to try your experiments, and, if you can, to displace the actual order by that ideal republic you announce, of nothing but God will expel God.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)
