Thazhechovva

Thazhe Chovva is a small town on National Highway 17 between Kannur and Thalassery. It is approx 4 km from Kannur towards south. The nearest Railway station is Cannanore South Station which is about a kilometer from the Thazhe chovva market. In the year 2001, a bypass highway was opened, by the name of Chala-Nadal bypass road, which links Thazhechovva with Nadal and Chala. The bypass is a relatively a straight road, which saves time by avoiding two railway gates on National Highway 17, namely the Chovva gate and the Nadal gate.

The only fish market available in Chovva situated in Thazhe Chovva. There is also a Co-operative spinning mill nearby which employees many people. Chovva Juma Masjid and Sree Muthappan Temple at Charapuram, about a kilometre from Thazze Chovva on the Thillanur Road, are the two main places of worship in Chovva. The Kottungal Kavvu on S.N college road is another place of worship which has yearly festivals with the traditional Theyyam and muthappan. Muthu Mariyamman Kovil & Kanchi Kamakshi Amman Kovil - two famous devi kshetram for navaratri festivities situated near railway gate on S.N.college road. S.N. College, Kannur is in Thottada, near Thazhechovva. There is a small stream that flows through the town Chovva Thodu. The town has a road that leads to Anjarakandi through Kappad on the left side of the NH 17 (while going to Thalassery from Kannur).
