In Chile, there are not many differences between the Spanish spoken in the Northern, Central and Southern areas of the country, although there are notable differences in zones like Aysén, Magallanes, Chiloé, or Arica (especially in their accent). There is remarkable variation in the Spanish spoken by different social classes, however. It also has strong influences from the Extremadura Castúo in rural areas from Santiago to Valdivia.

Famous quotes containing the word accents:

    When the lamp is shattered,
    The light in the dust lies dead;
    When the cloud is scattered,
    The rainbow’s glory is shed;
    When the lute is broken,
    Sweet tones are remembered not;
    When the lips have spoken,
    Loved accents are soon forgot.
    Percy Bysshe Shelley (1792–1822)
