Famous quotes containing the words children, peace and/or monument:
“Grandchildren are the crown of the aged, and the glory of children is their parents.”
—Bible: Hebrew, Proverbs 17:6.
“man will be blotted out, the blithe earth die, the brave sun
Die blind and blacken to the heart:
Yet stones have stood for a thousand years, and pained thoughts
found
The honey of peace in old poems.”

“It is remarkable that the dead lie everywhere under stones.... Why should the monument be so much more enduring than the fame which it is designed to perpetuate,a stone to a bone? Here lies,MHere lies;Mwhy do they not sometimes write, There rises? Is it a monument to the body only that is intended?”
—Henry David Thoreau (18171862)
