Famous quotes containing the words chief, air and/or staff:

Perhaps it is the lowest of the qualities of an orator, but it is, on so many occasions, of chief importance,—a certain robust and radiant physical health; or—shall I say?—great volumes of animal heat.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)

He had been eight years upon a project for extracting sunbeams out of cucumbers, which were to be put into vials hermetically sealed, and let out to warm the air in raw, inclement summers.
    Jonathan Swift (1667–1745)

... all my letters are read. I like that. I usually put something in there that I would like the staff to see. Jean Gump, U.S. pacifist. As quoted in The Great Divide, book 2, section 10, by Studs Terkel (1988)
