Cheltenham Festivals

The Times Cheltenham Literature Festival is just one of the four festivals that Cheltenham Festivals run each year. Combined with the Jazz, Science and Music Festivals, Cheltenham Festivals host over 700 events across 12 months. The four festivals have worked together to ensure Cheltenham's enviable reputation as the festival capital of Britain, and attract some of the art's biggest names.

Famous quotes containing the words cheltenham and/or festivals:

Here lies I and my three daughters,
Killed by drinking the Cheltenham waters.
If we had stuck to our Epsom salts
We’d not be lying in these vaults.
    —Anonymous. From H. J. Loaring’s Curious Records (1872)

This is certainly not the place for a discourse about what festivals are for. Discussions on this theme were plentiful during that phase of preparation and on the whole were fruitless. My experience is that discussion is fruitless. What sets forth and demonstrates is the sight of events in action, is living through these events and understanding them.
    Doris Lessing (b. 1919)
