Awards
Over the course of his long professional career, Socarides received numerous awards from his peers for his scientific work. Among those were the following:
- Distinguished Psychoanalyst (Association of Psychoanalytic Psychologists)
- 1st Sigmund Freud Lectureship Award (New York Center for Psychoanalytic Training)
- Physicians Recognition Award from 1970 to 1973 (American Medical Association)
- 1987 Sigmund Freud Award in recognition of distinguished service to psychiatry and psychoanalysis (American Society of Psychoanalytic Physicians)
Socarides was also honored by the Association of Psychoanalytic Psychotherapists, an organization formed of members of the English NHS and NHS Wales, in April 1995.
