Fictional Characteristics and Attributes
Char favors speed-orientated offensive battle tactics and hates to get hit, even when piloting an I-Field generator equipped unit and beam attacks have minimal to no effect (Commented when piloting Zero the R in a simulation battle in Portrait of a Young Comet - Char's Deleted Affair).
He typically pilots red mobile suits, such as his red Zaku, Z'Gok, Gelgoog, Rick Dias and Sazabi. Exceptions to this is the MSN-02 Zeong, which was painted in a bluish-grey colour during the Battle of A Baoa Qu, and had no time to even install the legs, much less be repainted and the MSN-00100 Hyaku Shiki, which is painted in bright gold yellow (At the time, he was pretending to be a different person).
The name Char Aznable was inspired by Armenian-French singer and songwriter Charles Aznavour (シャルル・アズナヴール, Sharuru Azunavūru?) and character named Charkin in an earlier robot anime Reideen (ライディーン)

Famous quotes containing the words fictional and/or attributes:
“One of the proud joys of the man of lettersif that man of letters is an artistis to feel within himself the power to immortalize at will anything he chooses to immortalize. Insignificant though he may be, he is conscious of possessing a creative divinity. God creates lives; the man of imagination creates fictional lives which may make a profound and as it were more living impression on the worlds memory.”
—Edmond De Goncourt (18221896)
“Why does not the kitten betray some of the attributes common to the adult puss? A puppy is but a dog, plus high spirits, and minus common sense. We never hear our friends say they love puppies, but cannot bear dogs. A kitten is a thing apart; and many people who lack the discriminating enthusiasm for cats, who regard these beautiful beasts with aversion and mistrust, are won over easily, and cajoled out of their prejudices, by the deceitful wiles of kittenhood.”
—Agnes Repplier (18581950)
