Changi Airport MRT Station

Changi Airport MRT Station

Changi Airport MRT Station (CG2) was opened on 8 February 2002 as one of the terminal Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) stations for the East West Line, and located in between Singapore Changi Airport's Terminal 2 and Terminal 3. This is one of the four MRT stations that have fare gates on the same level as the platform. The three other MRT stations which have this feature are Expo lift concourse, Downtown in 2013 and Bishan Exit E (south-bound train platform). Sentosa of Sentosa Express also has fare gates on the same level as the platform, but it is not included in the MRT system.

The station is the easternmost station in the MRT system and has the widest platforms in any underground MRT station in Singapore.

Famous quotes containing the words airport and/or station:

Airplanes are invariably scheduled to depart at such times as 7:54, 9:21 or 11:37. This extreme specificity has the effect on the novice of instilling in him the twin beliefs that he will be arriving at 10:08, 1:43 or 4:22, and that he should get to the airport on time. These beliefs are not only erroneous but actually unhealthy.
    Fran Lebowitz (b. 1950)

How soon country people forget. When they fall in love with a city it is forever, and it is like forever. As though there never was a time when they didn’t love it. The minute they arrive at the train station or get off the ferry and glimpse the wide streets and the wasteful lamps lighting them, they know they are born for it. There, in a city, they are not so much new as themselves: their stronger, riskier selves.
    Toni Morrison (b. 1931)
