Famous quotes containing the words chains and/or arena:
“Lap me in soft Lydian airs,
Married to immortal verse,
Such as the meeting soul may pierce
In notes with many a winding bout
Of linked sweetness long drawn out,
With wanton heed and giddy cunning,
The melting voice through mazes running,
Untwisting all the chains that tie
The hidden soul of harmony;”
—John Milton (16081674)
“... often the empowering strategies we use in the arena of love and friendship are immediately dropped when we come into the arena of politicized differencewhen in fact some of those strategies are useful and necessary.”
—bell hooks (b. c. 1955)
