CHS has been ranked in the top 1000 high schools in the United States by Newsweek for the past four years. It is one of the top Model United Schools in the whole nation. According to Best Delegate' America's Best High School MUN teams rankings, Cerritos High is rank 9 of all high schools in America in 2011-2012. Cerritos High School is currently ranked 204 nationally and 38 in California, according to US News and World Report. The school also has a college readiness index of 59.6. Cerritos High was one of the 100 schools named to the California Business for Education Excellence Foundation’s 2007 Honor Roll. Also, in September 2008, LA Magazine named Cerritos High School to its Honor Roll with 47 other high schools. CHS consistently scores over the 850 benchmark on the state’s Academic Performance Index. The AP® participation rate at Cerritos High School is 73 percent. It has a state API rank of 10 out of 10 and a 869 API Score for 2011.It sends many students into the UC and Cal State system every year, particularly University of California-Irvine and California State University Long Beach. Both Cal State Long Beach and UC Irvine have special service area agreements with Cerritos High so the number of admitted applicants are generally much higher than that of other local schools.
