Cedar High School - Sports

Sports

Football has always been the most esteemed sport at Cedar High School. Head Coach Todd Peacock hasn't won any state championships yet but has been to the final game twice and lost by a narrow margin. His main offense is the triple option and the defense runs a 5-2. The defense is known for its spectacular linebackers who usually lead the team for tackles. The offensive line which is coached by Dale Loveland hasn't always been dominant but always works hard. The O line is often undersized and usually beats people with their speed off the ball and with heart. This could be the year for the state championship and if Cedar gets it, it will be the first time in Cedar history.

CHS sports include baseball, basketball, cheer leading, cross country, football, golf, Mohey Tawa (drill team), soccer, softball, swimming, tennis, track, volleyball, water polo and wrestling.

The boys basketball team won their first 2A State championship in 1975 under coach Dick Hobbs 3A Utah State Basketball Championship in 1994 and 1995 under head coach Steven Hodson.. The Boys Baseball team also won the 3A Utah State Champtionship in 1975 under coach Dick Hobbs..

Famous quotes containing the word sports:

Short of a wholesale reform of college athletics—a complete breakdown of the whole system that is now focused on money and power—the women’s programs are just as doomed as the men’s are to move further and further away from the academic mission of their colleges.... We have to decide if that’s the kind of success for women’s sports that we want.
Christine H. B. Grant, U.S. university athletic director. As quoted in the Chronicle of Higher Education, p. A42 (May 12, 1993)

Guys do not have a genetic blueprint that allows them to understand or love sports.
Lesley Visser, U.S. sports reporter and announcer. As quoted in Sports Illustrated, p. 82 (June 17, 1991)

I looked so much like a guy you couldn’t tell if I was a boy or a girl. I had no hair, I wore guys’ clothes, I walked like a guy ... [ellipsis in source] I didn’t do anything right except sports. I was a social dropout, but sports was a way I could be acceptable to other kids and to my family.
    Karen Logan (b. 1949)
