CBC Records is a Canadian record label, owned and operated by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, which distributes CBC programming, including live concert performances in album and digital format(s).
The CBC began releasing albums in 1966, in cooperation with commercial labels (such as RCA Records), and established its own internal record label, CBC Enterprises, in 1982.
The French-language side of the CBC organisation, Radio-Canada, has its own counterpart, Les Disques SRC, which focuses on French-language music.
Recordings with universal appeal among both anglophones and francophones, such as classical music, are branded with both names.
Famous quotes containing the word records:
“Although crowds gathered once if she but showed her face,
And even old mens eyes grew dim, this hand alone,
Like some last courtier at a gypsy camping-place
Babbling of fallen majesty, records whats gone.”
—William Butler Yeats (18651939)
