Controversies

In 2007 there was a scandal in a CAS intermediate boys lawn bowels semi-final after it emerged Daniel Price accidentally kicked away bowels when an end had not been finished. This led to a famous victory for CCB. The incident was dubbed 'The Price Bowl Kick Situation' by the media. Price was subject to a media frenzy for weeks, and there were suspicions he would walk away from the game entirely. In the end, he was given a caution by the CAS board of directors.

The lead up to the 2008 CAS badminton tournament was marred by the shock decision by CCB coach Maree Pearce to leave out veteran Tim McGlone in favour of untried youth Jacob Carroll. In what became known as the 'McGlone Sacked for Carroll Scenario', it emerged that McGlone later stole a sandwich from Carroll during a lunchtime at CCB. This later was labelled the 'Carroll-McGlone Cheese Sandwich Incident' by the media. Carroll and McGlone maintain an unhealthy rivalry to this day.

The infamous 'Patterson Steroid Conclusion' was the reason for media furore following the 2009 CAS soccer championship. Having achieved a silver medal, Catholic College Bendigo were later disqualified after it emerged midfielder Ash 'The Bulldog' Patterson tested positive for 71 types of performance enhancing substances. The CCB boys were stripped of their silver medal and Patterson was given a life ban by the CAS board of directors. Patterson maintains his innocence to this day.

In 2010, with veterans Price and McGlone on their last legs, CCB fielded a goat at square leg instead of Price in their CAS cricket semi-final with St.Joesephs College Geelong. The media called this 'The Unusual Goat Circumstance' and left Price's CAS reputation in tatters.
