Retirement
Schell's acting career continued into the mid-1990s, after which she retired from acting and opened Chambre d'Hôtes Valentin, a small guesthouse in Bonneval, Haute-Loire, France which was a popular destination for fans of Space: 1999. She reportedly sold the inn after her husband died.
Schell made her first convention appearance in New York during MainMission:2000, the 25th anniversary convention for Space:1999, but has appeared only one other time at a convention, largely due to the declining health of her second husband, Bill Hays, who died 6 March 2006.
