In the 2007 federal election the most popular party was the CVP which received 36.18% of the vote. The next three most popular parties were the FDP (19.66%), the SP (16.85%) and the Ticino League (14.35%). In the federal election, a total of 899 votes were cast, and the voter turnout was 58.5%.

In the 2007 Gran Consiglio election, there were a total of 1,594 registered voters in Castel San Pietro, of which 1,159 or 72.7% voted. 23 blank ballots were cast, leaving 1,136 valid ballots in the election. The most popular party was the PPD+GenGiova which received 324 or 28.5% of the vote. The next three most popular parties were; the PLRT (with 228 or 20.1%), the SSI (with 201 or 17.7%) and the PS (with 154 or 13.6%).

In the 2007 Consiglio di Stato election, 21 blank ballots and 2 null ballots were cast, leaving 1,136 valid ballots in the election. The most popular party was the PPD which received 307 or 27.0% of the vote. The next three most popular parties were; the LEGA (with 228 or 20.1%), the PLRT (with 198 or 17.4%) and the SSI (with 184 or 16.2%).
