Casey Chaos - Early Life and AMEN

Early Life and AMEN

Chmielinski was born into a wealthy Fort Pierce family (his father is a highly successful local business man) - a silver-spoon start that was to provide the future Chaos with his own house whilst still in his teens, together with his own musical equipment, courtesy of his parents - and which was to lead to much amused derision from local scenesters. After seeing Black Flag for the first time, Chmielinski's life was forever changed. The following day]he started recording songs for his first hardcore band Casey and the Skate Punx, the name of which was later changed to Disorderly Conduct. Chmielinski appears to have started to refer to himself by the soubriquet Casey Chaos around this time. Disorderly Conduct released one album - "Amen" - and were featured on various contemporary compilations, the best known being "Flipside Vinyl Fanzine Volume 2".

Chaos subsequently moved to California and changed the name of the band to Amen. Upon meeting Rikk Agnew (Adolescents, D.I., Christian Death) the pair started collaborating on various musical projects, leading to Chaos playing bass with the reunited original Christian Death line-up alongside Rozz Williams, Rikk Agnew and George Bellanger. The group went on to tour and to release various albums and DVD's. Subsequently, Chaos returned to AMEN: recording various albums ("Slave", Amen, We Have Come For Your Parents, "Join or Die", "Gun of a Preacher Man", Death Before Musick), and later releasing a box set documenting a large amount of his musical output (Pisstory: A Catalogue of Accidents/A Lifetime Of Mistakes). Chaos wrote and recorded everything on the records with the exception of drums, which have always been recorded by Shannon Larkin. AMEN signed to various major labels inclsuibng Roadrunner Records, Virgin Records, Secret Records, Avex Records and Sony Records, and toured the world constantly - leading them to receive awards as the 'best live band in the world' and 'best overall in the world' by Metal Hammer magazine.

Famous quotes containing the words early life, early and/or life:

... goodness is of a modest nature, easily discouraged, and when much elbowed in early life by unabashed vices, is apt to retire into extreme privacy, so that it is more easily believed in by those who construct a selfish old gentleman theoretically, than by those who form the narrower judgments based on his personal acquaintance.
George Eliot [Mary Ann (or Marian)

We do not preach great things but we live them.
Marcus Minucius Felix (late 2nd or early 3rd ce, Roman Christian apologist. Octavius, 38. 6, trans. by G.H. Rendell.

These words dropped into my childish mind as if you should accidentally drop a ring into a deep well. I did not think of them much at the time, but there came a day in my life when the ring was fished up out of the well, good as new.
    Harriet Beecher Stowe (1811–1896)
