Works of Betty Jessop
Carolyn's second child, Betty Jane Jessop, turned eighteen in 2007 and returned to the FLDS, stating that there was nothing for her outside of it and that she disliked the outside world. As was acknowledged in her mother's book, Betty said that she kicked and screamed when she was first taken out of the FLDS, and that the years that followed were traumatic. She disputed the claims in Carolyn's book, saying "it just makes me want to laugh." In 2009 it was announced that she would be writing her own book with the help of her older half-sister, Maggie Jessop. Betty states that her father instructed them to tell only the truth, to allow readers to come across their own conclusions, and not to "slam Carolyn."

Famous quotes containing the words works of, works and/or betty:
“In the works of man, everything is as poor as its author; vision is confined, means are limited, scope is restricted, movements are labored, and results are humdrum.”
—Joseph De Maistre (17531821)
“We all agree nowby we I mean intelligent people under sixtythat a work of art is like a rose. A rose is not beautiful because it is like something else. Neither is a work of art. Roses and works of art are beautiful in themselves. Unluckily, the matter does not end there: a rose is the visible result of an infinitude of complicated goings on in the bosom of the earth and in the air above, and similarly a work of art is the product of strange activities in the human mind.”
—Clive Bell (18811962)
“He could jazz up the map-reading class by having a full-size color photograph of Betty Grable in a bathing suit, with a co- ordinate grid system laid over it. The instructor could point to different parts of her and say, Give me the co-ordinates.... The Major could see every unit in the Army using his idea.... Hot dog!”
—Norman Mailer (b. 1923)
