Carlito's Way: Rise To Power - Casting

Casting

The character of Hollywood Nicky played by Sean Combs is modeled off of a younger Nicky Barnes who would rise to become one of New York's top drug lords.

In the film, the character Earl played by Mario Van Peebles makes a reference to Governor Rockefeller setting some new drug laws into effect. This is in reference to the Rockefeller drug laws which are to date amongst the toughest mandatory sentencing laws for drug dealers.

Luis Guzmán plays character roles in both Carlito's Way films. He plays Pachanga in Carlito's Way and Nacho in Carlito's Way: Rise to Power.

Famous quotes containing the word casting:

For the gods, though slow to see, see well, whenever a man casting aside worship turns folly.
    Sophocles (497–406/5 B.C.)

This I do know and can say to you: Our country is in more danger now than at any time since the Declaration of Independence. We don’t dare follow the Lindberghs, Wheelers and Nyes, casting suspicion, sowing discord around the leadership of Franklin D. Roosevelt. We don’t want revolution among ourselves.
    Lyndon Baines Johnson (1908–1973)

Reason sits firm and holds the reins, and she will not let the feelings burst away and hurry her to wild chasms. The passions may rage furiously, like true heathens, as they are; and the desires may imagine all sorts of vain things: but judgement shall still have the last word in every argument, and the casting vote in every decision.
    Charlotte Brontë (1816–1855)
