Basic Method
To perform a card sort:
- A person representative of the audience is given a set of index cards with terms already written on them.
- This person puts the terms into logical groupings, and finds a category name for each grouping.
- This process is repeated across a population of test subjects.
- The results are later analyzed to reveal patterns.

Famous quotes containing the words basic and/or method:
“It seems to me that our three basic needs, for food and security and love, are so mixed and mingled and entwined that we cannot straightly think of one without the others. So it happens that when I write of hunger, I am really writing about love and the hunger for it, and warmth and the love of it and the hunger for it ... and then the warmth and richness and fine reality of hunger satisfied ... and it is all one.”
—M.F.K. Fisher (b. 1908)
“If all feeling for grace and beauty were not extinguished in the mass of mankind at the actual moment, such a method of locomotion as cycling could never have found acceptance; no man or woman with the slightest aesthetic sense could assume the ludicrous position necessary for it.”
—Ouida [Marie Louise De La Ramée] (18391908)
