Captured in Time and Space

Captured in Time and Space is the eighth release of Christian rock band, Petra and their first live album. The concert was re-released on DVD in 2006.

This album featured newly hired keyboardist, John Lawry, who showed his abilities on the techno-like album Beat the System one year before.

The album was recorded during three separate performances of the "Beat the System Tour":

  • Civic Auditorium, Knoxville, Tennessee - November 21, 1985
  • Memorial Auditorium, Greenville, South Carolina - November 22, 1985
  • Township Auditorium, Columbia, South Carolina - November 23, 1985

This was the last Petra album to feature Greg X. Volz as lead vocalist.

Famous quotes containing the words captured, time and/or space:

I have travelled a good deal in Concord; and everywhere, in shops, and offices, and fields, the inhabitants have appeared to me to be doing penance in a thousand remarkable ways.... The twelve labors of Hercules were trifling in comparison with those which my neighbors have undertaken; for they were only twelve, and had an end; but I could never see that these men slew or captured any monster or finished any labor.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

From the time the Englishman’s bones harden into bones at all, he makes his skeleton a flagstaff, and he early plants his feet like one who is to walk the world and the decks of all the seas.
    Willa Cather (1876–1947)

The flattering, if arbitrary, label, First Lady of the Theatre, takes its toll. The demands are great, not only in energy but eventually in dramatic focus. It is difficult, if not impossible, for a star to occupy an inch of space without bursting seams, cramping everyone else’s style and unbalancing a play. No matter how self-effacing a famous player may be, he makes an entrance as a casual neighbor and the audience interest shifts to the house next door.
    Helen Hayes (1900–1993)
