Business Lines
Reiss introduced the captive to provide large corporations with insurance coverages they needed but could not obtain economically through the mainstream insurance market, thus reducing their costs. Captives can cover lines of business, such as workers' compensation, that have relatively predictable claim rates. They can access the reinsurance market to lay off risks that they do not wish to accept: this may include product liability, general and professional liability and directors' and officers' liability. Vehicle insurance, both property damage and third party liability of corporate fleets and vehicles, is also quite commonly covered.

Famous quotes containing the words business and/or lines:
“Method goes far to prevent trouble in business: for it makes the task easy, hinders confusion, saves abundance of time, and instructs those that have business depending, both what to do and what to hope.”
—William Penn (16441718)
“Called as partners in Christs service,
Called to ministries of grace,
We respond with deep commitment
Fresh new lines of faith to trace.
May we learn the art of sharing,
Side by side and friend with friend,
Equal partners in our caring
To fulfill Gods chosen end.”
—Jane Parker Huber (b. 1926)
