Canton Junction (MBTA Station)

Canton Junction is a railway station on the MBTA Commuter Rail's Providence/Stoughton line, located a few hundred yards north of the Canton Viaduct. At Canton Junction the two branches of the Providence/Stoughton Line split, one going to T. F. Green Airport, Rhode Island, the other to Stoughton, Massachusetts.

Canton Junction was originally built by the Old Colony Railroad in 1892 by Bradford Lee Gilbert. It became part of the New York, New Haven and Hartford Railroad a year later in 1893.

Famous quotes containing the word junction:

In order to get to East Russet you take the Vermont Central as far as Twitchell’s Falls and change there for Torpid River Junction, where a spur line takes you right into Gormley. At Gormley you are met by a buckboard which takes you back to Torpid River Junction again.
    Robert Benchley (1889–1945)
