Canterbury School (Connecticut) - Interscholastic Sports

Interscholastic Sports

When founded in 1915, Nelson Hume believed that physical activity was an important component in the education of his students. Canterbury carries that tradition on, expecting students to participate in a sport each season at level appropriate with their skills. Canterbury fields teams and competes against other schools at the Varsity, Junior Varsity, 3rd Team and sometime 4th team level.

Famous quotes containing the word sports:

    Sweet smiling village, loveliest of the lawn,
    Thy sports are fled and all thy charms withdrawn;
    Amidst thy bowers the tyrant’s hand is seen,
    And desolation saddens all thy green;
    One only master grasps the whole domain,
    And half a tillage stints thy smiling plain;
    Oliver Goldsmith (1730?–1774)
