  • 2010 ACT Training Excellence Large Registered Training Organisation Award for outstanding achievements in the delivery of vocational education and training.
  • 2010 ACT Training Excellence ACT Australian Apprentice of the Year: Ross Ingham, a Certificate III in Plumbing.
  • 2010 ACT Training Excellence ACT Vocational Student of the Year: Sharon Dale, an Advanced Diploma of Naturopathy student at CIT.
  • ACT Sustainable Cities - Water Conservation Award for CITs Bruce Horticultural Facilities (2010).
  • Commissioner for Public Administration Awards (2010)
    • The Student Services Hub, for Service Delivery to ACT Citizens.
    • The Centre for Organisational Capability – a Safe Workplaces award for implementing new strategies to assist ill and injured CIT staff to return to work.
  • In 2008 CIT achieved Training Excellence - Gold. Training Excellence - Gold is the highest ranking against the national Australian Quality Training Framework excellence criteria. CIT is one of the first training providers to achieve this level of recognition.

  • Gerard Allen (student) – WorldSkills Australia national competition gold medallist in plumbing; ACT Construction Industry Training Council Outstanding Apprentice award; ACT Master Builders Apprentice of the Year award; ACT Master Plumber Associations Apprentice of the Year award; CIT Outstanding Plumbing Award.
  • Damian Alexander-Kopernick (student) – WorldSkills Australia national competition silver medallist for PC support.
  • Justin Poidevin (student) – WorldSkills Australia national competition bronze medallist for carpentry.
  • Nathan Sandy (student) – WorldSkills Australia national competition bronze medallist for commercial cookery.
  • Daniel McGavin-Coregas – Welding Technology Institute of Australia (WTIA) Young Tradesman of the Year Award.
  • Elissa Brunato (student) – FASHION EXPOSED Debut competition winner for best apparel, spring/summer 2010/11.
  • Peter Kowald (staff member) – Public Service Medal, Australia Day Honours List (2011).
