A Canadian Parliamentary Secretary is the assistant to a particular Minister.
When the Minister is absent in the Canadian House of Commons, the Parliamentary Secretary is responsible for answering questions directed to the Minister by the Opposition. Unlike Deputy Ministers, Parliamentary Assistants are Members of Parliament and members of the governing party.
