Cabanes Du Breuil - How The Designation Originated

How The Designation Originated

According to both Napoleonic and modern-day land registers, the name of the place is not "Le Breuil" but "Calpalmas". "Le Breuil" (also spelt "Le Breuilh") is, to be precise, the name of a nearby hamlet.

The designation "Cabanes du Breuil", although lacking in accuracy, was made popular - whether in its original form or under the variant "Bories du Breuil" - by the local monthly PĂ©rigord Magazine in the 1970s, and more generally by regional tourist brochures, not forgetting postcards from the 1980s onwards.

Famous quotes containing the words designation and/or originated:

In a period of a people’s life that bears the designation “transitional,” the task of a thinking individual, of a sincere citizen of his country, is to go forward, despite the dirt and difficulty of the path, to go forward without losing from view even for a moment those fundamental ideals on which the entire existence of the society to which he belongs is built.
    Ivan Sergeevich Turgenev (1818–1883)

If we glance at the most important revolutions in history, we see at once that the greatest number of these originated in the periodical revolutions of the human mind.
    Karl Wilhelm Von Humboldt (1767–1835)
