Services Along The Highway
The highway is known for the Route 75 tram line which runs down the median of the highway from Burwood to Vermont South. The 732 bus route also runs along the majority of the highway connecting Box Hill with Upper Ferntree Gully and provides a direct link between the Vermont South tram terminus and Westfield Knox. The highway features many shopping centres including the first Kmart built in Australia, Vermont South Shopping Centre, Westfield Knox along with its sister outdoor area Knox O-Zone and Mountain Gate Shopping Centre. The Belgrave shopping strip at the foot of the Dandenong Ranges is at the end of the highway.

Famous quotes containing the words services and/or highway:
“The community and family networks which helped sustain earlier generations have become scarcer for growing numbers of young parents. Those who lack links to these traditional sources of support are hard-pressed to find other resources, given the emphasis in our society on providing treatment services, rather than preventive services and support for health maintenance and well-being.”
—Bernice Weissbourd (20th century)
“In one notable instance, where the United States Army and a hundred years of persuasion failed, a highway has succeeded. The Seminole Indians surrendered to the Tamiami Trail. From the Everglades the remnants of this race emerged, soon after the trail was built, to set up their palm-thatched villages along the road and to hoist tribal flags as a lure to passing motorists.”
—For the State of Florida, U.S. public relief program (1935-1943)
