Burnley F.C. - in Popular Culture

In Popular Culture

The club are referenced in the 2011 film The Inbetweeners when the main characters share their coach pickup with a group of noisy Burnley fans. The fans sing "We love you Burnley, we do!" and later "Can you hear the Preston sing? I can't hear a fucking thing!", two of the club's chants. 'Will' narrates that when asked "I always say I like football, but not Burnley. Burnley can fuck off!"

The club's supporters also briefly appear in the 1966 feature film Help! in a scene where footage of a crowd scene from the 1962 F A cup final against Tottenham Hotspur is used.

Famous quotes containing the words popular and/or culture:

Resorts advertised for waitresses, specifying that they “must appear in short clothes or no engagement.” Below a Gospel Guide column headed, “Where our Local Divines Will Hang Out Tomorrow,” was an account of spirited gun play at the Bon Ton. In Jeff Winney’s California Concert Hall, patrons “bucked the tiger” under the watchful eye of Kitty Crawhurst, popular “lady” gambler.
—Administration in the State of Colo, U.S. public relief program (1935-1943)

Here in the U.S., culture is not that delicious panacea which we Europeans consume in a sacramental mental space and which has its own special columns in the newspapers—and in people’s minds. Culture is space, speed, cinema, technology. This culture is authentic, if anything can be said to be authentic.
    Jean Baudrillard (b. 1929)
