Burgsvik Beds - Appearance

Appearance

The beds consists of thin to very thick layers of a light grey, fine grained argillaceous sandstone, containing a small calcareous element. The sandstones are occasionally intercalated with very thin-bedded blue-grey claystone. In places, the sandstone is overlain by the upper Burgsvik beds, which comprise thin-bedded, light-to-bluish grey, oolitic limestone with, here and there, alternating sandy beds containing problematic structures described by Manten (1966).

Famous quotes containing the word appearance:

The actor is too prone to exaggerate his powers; he wants to play Hamlet when his appearance is more suitable to King Lear.
    Sarah Bernhardt (1845–1923)

Every natural fact is a symbol of some spiritual fact. Every appearance in nature corresponds to some state of the mind, and that state of the mind can only be described by presenting that natural appearance as its picture.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)

A bureaucracy is sure to think that its duty is to augment official power, official business, or official members, rather than to leave free the energies of mankind; it overdoes the quantity of government, as well as impairs its quality. The truth is, that a skilled bureaucracy ... is, though it boasts of an appearance of science, quite inconsistent with the true principles of the art of business.
    Walter Bagehot (1826–1877)
