Production Capacity
Burgan's production capacity stood at 1,700,000 barrels per day (270,000 m3/d) in 2005. This was much lower than it had been in the past—it reached as high as 2,400,000 barrels per day (380,000 m3/d) in 1972. The actual oil production from the field in 2005 was between 1,300,000 and 1,700,000 barrels per day. The International Energy Agency then predicted an output of 1,640,000 bbl/d (261,000 m3/d) in 2020 and 1,530,000 bbl/d (243,000 m3/d) in 2030.

“Lords and Commoners of England, consider what nation it is whereof ye are, and whereof ye are the governors; a nation not slow and dull, but of a quick, ingenious and piercing spirit, acute to invent, subtle and sinewy to discourse, not beneath the reach of any point the highest that human capacity can soar to.”
—John Milton (16081674)
