Bull Arm

Bull Arm is a natural arm of approximately 10 miles in length and average of 1 mile wide located at the Isthmus of Avalon on the Avalon Peninsula in the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador. The inner reaches of the arm is located at Sunnyside, and from there it is a mere 2.72 miles to Placentia Bay at Come by Chance.

Located at Bull Arm is the Bull Arm Fabrication Site, where the construction of the Hibernia gravity base structure took place at Bull Arm. The area was chosen due to its natural deep channel to Trinity Bay and its calm waters in the arm. Coordinates: 47°50′13″N 53°52′44″W / 47.83694°N 53.87889°W / 47.83694; -53.87889

Famous quotes containing the words bull and/or arm:

    I was a fire-breathing Catholic C.O.,
    and made my manic statement,
telling off the state and president, and then
sat waiting sentence in the bull pen
beside a Negro boy with curlicues
    of marijuana in his hair.
    Robert Lowell (1917–1977)

Man is but a reed, the feeblest one in nature; but he is a thinking reed. The entire universe need not arm itself to crush him—a vapor, a drop of water suffices to kill him. But if the universe were to crush him, man would still be nobler than that which killed him, because he knows that he dies and the advantage which the universe has over him; the universe knows nothing of this.
    Blaise Pascal (1623–1662)
