Brutal Knights

Brutal Knights are a Canadian punk band formed in 2006 in Toronto. The band has been described as having a "raw" punk rock-and-roll sound reminiscent of early-1980s hardcore. Brutal Knights are also known for their humorous lyrics, written by vocalist Nick Flanagan. Flanagan is also a comedian, and sometimes performs stand-up at their shows. According to Flanagan, guitarist Jon Sharron writes most of the music.

Brutal Knights, along with Fucked Up, Career Suicide, and Terminal State, are part of a burgeoning hardcore punk scene in Toronto which has been the subject of recent attention. In 2006 they were voted "Best Punk Band" by Toronto’s Now Magazine.

The Brutal Knights played their final show in December 2010, in Montreal, Quebec.

Famous quotes containing the words brutal and/or knights:

    Collective guilt is borne by what is conventionally called the scapegoat. Now the scapegoat for white society—which is based on myths of progress, civilization, liberalism, education, enlightenment, refinement—will be precisely the force that opposes the expansion and the triumph of these myths. This brutal opposing force is supplied by the Negro.
    Frantz Fanon (1925–1961)

    The threadbare trees, so poor and thin,
    They are no wealthier than I;
    But with as brave a core within
    They rear their boughs to the October sky.
    Poor knights they are which bravely wait
    The charge of Winter’s cavalry,
    Keeping a simple Roman state,
    Discumbered of their Persian luxury.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)
