Brunei Revolt
The Brunei Rebellion (Malay: Pemberontakan Brunei) broke out on 8 December 1962. The rebels began co-ordinated attacks on the oil town of Seria (targeting the Royal Dutch Shell oil installations) and on police stations and government facilities around the protectorate. This rebellion against the Sultan, his government and loyal subjects is seen as one of the first stages of the Indonesia–Malaysia confrontation.

Famous quotes containing the word revolt:
“As nature requires whirlwinds and cyclones to release its excessive force in a violent revolt against its own existence, so the spirit requires a demonic human being from time to time whose excessive strength rebels against the community of thought and the monotony of morality ... only by looking at those beyond its limits does humanity come to know its own utmost limits.”
—Stefan Zweig (18811942)
