British School of Barcelona - School Organisation and Studies

School Organisation and Studies

The British School of Barcelona educates children from Nursery School age to University Entrance. Studies at the school mainly follow the National Curriculum of England and Wales. Pupils at the school then study for GCSE and A Level examinations.

In addition, the school also offers courses in Spanish and the Catalan language, as well as the History and Geography of Spain (this is a legal requirement in all schools in Spain).

Pupils at the school who plan to go on and study at Spanish universities prepare for the university access examination “Selectividad”, which is organised by the UNED (Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia).

Famous quotes containing the words school, organisation and/or studies:

Neither can I do anything to please critics belonging to the good old school of “projected biography,” who examine an author’s work, which they do not understand, through the prism of his life, which they do not know.
    Vladimir Nabokov (1899–1977)

It is because the body is a machine that education is possible. Education is the formation of habits, a superinducing of an artificial organisation upon the natural organisation of the body.
    Thomas Henry Huxley (1825–1895)

Recent studies that have investigated maternal satisfaction have found this to be a better prediction of mother-child interaction than work status alone. More important for the overall quality of interaction with their children than simply whether the mother works or not, these studies suggest, is how satisfied the mother is with her role as worker or homemaker. Satisfied women are consistently more warm, involved, playful, stimulating and effective with their children than unsatisfied women.
    Alison Clarke-Stewart (20th century)
