British Formula Ford Championship

The British Formula Ford Championship is an entry level single seater motor sport category, which gives many racing drivers their first step into car racing after karting. Currently known as the Formula Ford Championship of Great Britain, it attracts drivers from across the world who move to the United Kingdom to compete. The championship has been run to various regulations over the years, often based on the engines provided for the championship by Ford Motor Company. These engine based regulations/specifications include the Ford Kent engine, Ford Zetec engine, Ford Duratec engine and most recently, the Ford EcoBoost engine. Several former drivers have become successful in Formula One, including Eddie Irvine and Anthony Davidson, whilst Formula Ford champions Ayrton Senna and Jenson Button also went on to win the Formula One Drivers' Championship.

Famous quotes containing the words british, formula and/or ford:

In New York—whose subway trains in particular have been “tattooed” with a brio and an energy to put our own rude practitioners to shame—not an inch of free space is spared except that of advertisements.... Even the most chronically dispossessed appear prepared to endorse the legitimacy of the “haves.”
Gilbert Adair, British author, critic. “Cleaning and Cleansing,” Myths and Memories (1986)

“It’s hard enough to adjust [to the lack of control] in the beginning,” says a corporate vice president and single mother. “But then you realize that everything keeps changing, so you never regain control. I was just learning to take care of the belly-button stump, when it fell off. I had just learned to make formula really efficiently, when Sarah stopped using it.”
    Anne C. Weisberg (20th century)

We bring [to government] no hereditary status or gift of infallibility and none follows us from this place.
    —Gerald R. Ford (b. 1913)
