Brighton Pavilion (UK Parliament Constituency) - Constituency Profile

Constituency Profile

Named after the iconic Royal Pavilion, this relatively affluent seat encompasses the heart of the city, with the alleyways of The Lanes and the bohemian North Laine shopping area. It takes in the traditional grandeur of a small stretch of coastline, including the Grand Hotel. In 1997, Labour (aided by somewhat favourable boundary changes) overturned decades of Conservative control dating back to the seat's creation, but the Green Party made an historic gain in 2010.
