Brian Coleman - Assault Charge

Assault Charge

Coleman was arrested for assault for an incident that took place on 20 September 2012. Helen Michael, a café owner in North Finchley who had actively opposed his policy on parking charges, saw him park his car in a loading bay opposite her café. She claimed that she was filming him on her mobile phone when he noticed her and attempted to grab the camera. A policeman intervened and Coleman then jumped into his car and attempted to drive off with both doors open, hitting a truck before speeding off. Coleman was charged with assault by beating and driving on a road without reasonable consideration. Coleman pleaded not guilty to the charges of assault by beating and careless driving at Uxbridge Magistrates' Court on November 5. (See http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-20204583)

Famous quotes containing the words assault and/or charge:

We have long forgotten the ritual by which the house of our life was erected. But when it is under assault and enemy bombs are already taking their toll, what enervated, perverse antiquities do they not lay bare in the foundations.
    Walter Benjamin (1892–1940)

I have never doubted your courage and devotion to the cause. But you have just lost a Division, and prima facie the fault is upon you; and while that remains unchanged, for me to put you in command again, is to justly subject me to the charge of having put you there on purpose to have you lose another.
    Abraham Lincoln (1809–1865)
