Automatic Berths
Beginning in 2007, the Breeders' Cup developed "The Breeders' Cup Challenge," a series of races in each division that alloted automatic qualifying bids to winners of defined races. Each of the fourteen divisions has between three and six of these, "Win and You're In," qualifiers. In the Breeders' Cup Turf Division there are five automatic births. In 2009, the Win and You're In races are: the United Nations Stakes, a grade one race at Monmouth Park Racetrack, the Arlington Million, a grade one race at Arlington Park, the Irish Champion Stakes, a group one race at Leopardstown Racecourse, the Emirates Airline Champion Stakes, a group one race at Newmarket Racecourse and the Canadian International a grade one race at Woodbine Racetrack.

Famous quotes containing the word automatic:
“Predictions of the future are never anything but projections of present automatic processes and procedures, that is, of occurrences that are likely to come to pass if men do not act and if nothing unexpected happens; every action, for better or worse, and every accident necessarily destroys the whole pattern in whose frame the prediction moves and where it finds its evidence.”
—Hannah Arendt (19061975)
